Why should a person donate?

These are the millions disabled in India who need limb, caliper and other appliances to be mobile, functional and dignified. Around 90% such persons with disabilities are below poverty line and they cannot afford highly costly assistive devices in the market.

BMVSS since its inception provides Artificial Limb, caliper and other appliances totally FREE OF CHARGES, making such disabled, normal or almost normal and that to mostly in a day or two day.

Besides BMVSS believes in equality and makes low distinction on the basis of caste, religion, region etc. It operates through his Headquarter & 32 branches all over the country from Kashmir to Kerala, Gujrat to Assam. It also holds large number of camps to reach distant places.

In India Donors of BMVSS get text assumption of 50% under the Income Tax Act.

BMVSS also hold camps abroad. By now BMVSS has held 103 camps in 42 countries Asia, Africa & Latin America.

For the rehabilitation of the disabled, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, has a national grant scheme called the Scheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase / Fitting of Aids / Appliances, commonly known as the ADIP Scheme. Every year, a large number of non-government organisations are given grants to provide aids and appliances to the disabled under the scheme. BMVSS is one of the grantee organisations and implementing agency under the ADIP Scheme.

The grant received from the government is quite substantial, enabling hundreds of thousands of disabled get Artificial limbs/calipers and other aids and appliances.

REC Foundation (RECF) and Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) have signed an Memorandum of Agreement on 7th February, 2023 under which RECF will provide CSR grant of Rs.2,01,08,500/- to BMVSS for providing 4300 nos. of aids and appliances (Artificial limbs/ calipers, Crutches (Pair), Wheel chairs, Hand paddled tricycles) to special-abled persons in various locations in India under CSR initiative of REC.

Dow Chemical International Pvt Ltd (Dow India) also have been helping BMVSS very generously in this humanitarian project, under which by now around 50,000 amputees have been rehabilitated. With this assistance, thousands of disabled could get artificial limbs at the Jaipur Artificial Limb Centre of BMVSS and in the camps held in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, etc. Dow India has also donated one mobile workshop which enables BMVSS reach very remote areas and provide limbs to the needy disabled on-the-spot.

Another significant contribution of Dow India to BMVSS is in the field of research and development. Dow India has worked with BMVSS to develop the polyurethane foot (PU foot). For this, Dow India being one of the most prominent companies in the field of polymers, is providing scientific support. Lately, MIT, USA, the world’s leading technology institute, along with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers has joined Dow India, Pinnacle Industries and BMVSS in this project. The PU foot is expected to revolutionise artificial foot manufacturing, benefiting millions of amputees all over the world. Dow Chemicals is helping BMVSS in improving its quality and life by providing scientific support.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation, London has been helping BMVSS in a very generous way for the last 22 years. Their assistance also enabled BMVSS to help about 50,000 patients. Recently, the foundation has given a substantial one-time grant for the creation of a corpus, the interest of which will help BMVSS continue the usual large scale fitment of Artificial Limbs on behalf of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. In addition, BMVSS with this support of the Foundation has set up Paul Hamlyn International Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics at its Jaipur campus. This is a centre of excellence which would help BMVSS undertake in-house research as also collaborative research with famous institutions like Stanford, MIT, Indian IITs and National Institutes of Technology.

With the huge financial support of General insaurance Company of India, BMVSS has been able to benefit 16245 disabled from year 2014, which includes 9725 beneficiaries from 12 camps conducted in the year 2018-19, with artificial limbs/calipers, tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing aids, crutches and economic aids. Almost every camp was represented by Officers of GIC of India and BMVSS. Here are some photos from the camps. BMVSS is grateful for its ongoing support each year to benefit more and more disabled.

Another major regular donor is Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Group. Their generous contribution has also helped more than 10,000 disabled get rehabilitated.

Jiv Daya Foundation, USA has also been helping BMVSS for last several years benefiting thousands of amputees.

BMVSS has also signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (RECL) to provide Artificial Limbs to 2000 persons with disability from economically weaker sections of society. RECL is a Company incorporated under the Companies Act,1956 and having its registered office at Core-4, Scope Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi -110003. It is one of the leading Public Sector Enterprises of the Government of India under administrative control of the Ministry of Power, is desirous of undertaking the Project in accordance with RECL Policy on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aligned with Companies Act, 2013. RECL, under its CSR activities, sanctioned financial contribution of Rupees Sixty lakhs, to BMVSS, an organization which has the necessary infrastructure, expertise, manpower and experience required for implementing the Project. BMVSS has again signed an MoU with REC limited for the year 2019-20 and is thankful for its continuing support.

SBI Funds Management Pvt Ltd, regularly provides significant financial support, under their CSR projects, to BMVSS since the year 2016. Their support has been instrumental in providing mobility and other aids like Tri-cycles, Wheel chairs, Auxiliary Crutches, Hearing Aids etc. The camps conducted with their support are generally represented by officials of SBI Funds Management Pvt Ltd. BMVSS is indeed thankful to them for their kind regular support which goes a long way in the sustainable livelihood of Divyang people across the country.

BMVSS also signed a MoU with Hero MotoCorp Ltd for the grant of Rs. 22.50 lakhs in the year 2020-21, under CSR activities, to provide artificial limbs/ calipers and other aids and appliances to 500 disabled.
