The world renowned San Jose, California-based Tech Museum Innovation Organizetion has conferred the Tech award for Innovation for the benefit of humanity this year on D.R. Mehta, founder and chief patron of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti of Jaipur, the world's largest artificial limb manufacturing organization. The award recognizes Mehta's contribution to creating and spreading the innovation of the Jaipur Foot on an unprecedented scale. Mehta, who was chosen from a pool of outstanding innovators from 68 countries, received teh $50,000 award on November7. He has announced that the money will be used for further research on and development of the artificial limb.
